Salesforce.com used to meet residents' needs with recovery operations in New Orleans
March 13 '08: In New Orleans, one community almost completely destroyed by Hurricane Katrina is rebuilding by utilizing a needs-based approach through an online database originally used for sales, NPR reported. The website, Salesforce.com is an online leader in software as a service, customer relationship management and business application delivery services, but because it can pair needs to capabilities, Broadmoor neighborhood resident Hal Rourk has turned it into a recovery tool.Southwestern regional meeting in Galveston January 18, 2007

The National Council on Readiness and Preparedness is hosting the National Congress on Secure Communities in Washington, DC on December 17-18, 2007. The Congress will bring together federal, state and local officials, first responders, members of the media, business leaders, non-profit organizations, academic experts, and other community leaders as Delegates to the Congress. The Delegates, and Alternates who are not able to attend but are connected via the Internet, will help develop simple, effective ways to leverage the assets of the private and community sectors into the local public sector preparedness and response plan during the first 72 hours of crisis. Crisis Response Summit in Indiana with Manchester College
The National Council on Readiness and Preparedness co-hosted a summit on homeland security at Manchester College on Monday, Oct. 16. Over 250 northern Indiana leaders involved in disaster preparedness and relief, emergency response and government leaders participated. Click here to read more...
