Gov Gilmore receives highest Air Force civilian honor at Academy graduation

Former Virginia Governor James S. Gilmore III, NCORP chairman, received the Exceptional Service Award from Secretary of the Air Force Michael W. Wynne at the U.S. Air Force Academy Graduation Wednesday, May 31, 2006 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Governor Gilmore served as the Chairman of the Air Force Academy Board of Visitors from March 2003 to March 2006 and led the transformation from a primarily "ceremonial" board to an action-oriented group. Under Governor Gilmore's leadership, the board dealt with significant, wide-ranging issues. Secretary Donald Rumsfeld was present at the ceremony, just prior to his commencement address to the graduating cadets.
